Biography
Aisling Bea, born Aisling Clíodhnadh O'Sullivan on 16 March 1984 in Kildare, Ireland, is an Irish comedian, actress and screenwriter. She studied French and philosophy at Trinity College Dublin and trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Bea began her career with small television roles from 2009 and turned to stand-up comedy in 2011. She won the So You Think You're Funny award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012 and the British Comedy Award for Best Female TV Comedian in 2014. She is known for creating, writing and starring in the Channel 4 series This Way Up (2019–2021), for which she received a BAFTA Breakthrough Talent award in 2020, and for her role as Nurse Sheridan in The Fall (2016). Other credits include Living with Yourself (2019) and appearances on panel shows such as Taskmaster (2017) and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
