Biography
Al Waxman, also credited as Albert Samuel Waxman, was a Canadian actor and director. Born in Toronto in 1935, he began his career on CBC Radio at the age of twelve and later attended Central Technical School. He became a prominent figure in Canadian television as Larry King in the series King of Kensington (1975–1980).
Waxman appeared as Alfie in the 1980 film Atlantic City. He gained wider recognition in the United States as Lieutenant Bert Samuels in the CBS series Cagney & Lacey (1982–1988). His other notable roles include appearances in Class of 1984 (1982) and The Hurricane (1999). He also worked extensively in theatre and as a director, and received the Order of Canada in 1997. Waxman died in 2001.
