Biography

Alar Kivilo is a Canadian-Estonian cinematographer. Born in Montréal, Québec, he is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Estonian Society of Cinematographers.

He shot A Simple Plan (1998) for director Sam Raimi. His other feature credits as director of photography include The Blind Side (2009), Bad Teacher (2011), The Lucky One (2012) and The Lake House (2006). He has also worked on the series Foundation (2021).

Kivilo won an ASC Award for the television film Taking Chance (2009) and received Emmy and further ASC nominations for his television work.
