Biography
Alex Essoe, also credited as Alexandra Essoe, is a Canadian actress known for her work in horror films and television. Born in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, to Canadian and American parents, she moved with her family to Toronto at the age of 12. Her mother was a stage actor, and Essoe later studied at the Lyric School of Acting and the Beaumont Stage in Vancouver.
She gained recognition with her first lead role as Sarah Walker in the 2014 horror film Starry Eyes. Essoe has collaborated several times with director Mike Flanagan, appearing as Wendy Torrance in Doctor Sleep (2019), Charlotte Wingrave in The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020) and Mildred Gunning in Midnight Mass (2021). Other credits include Midnighters (2017), The Pope's Exorcist (2023) and The Last Stop in Yuma County (2024).
