Biography

Alex Hassell is an English actor. Born on 7 September 1980 in Southend, Essex, he is the youngest of four children of a vicar. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama after attending Moulsham High School in Chelmsford, and is co-founder of The Factory Theatre Company.

Hassell has performed extensively on stage, including as Hal in the Royal Shakespeare Company productions of Henry IV Parts I and II and as Henry in Henry V. On screen he is known for roles including Translucent in The Boys (2019), Vicious in Cowboy Bebop (2021) and Metatron in His Dark Materials (2019–2022). He played Rupert Campbell-Black in the Disney+ series Rivals (2024).

His film credits include Suburbicon (2017) and The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021). He is married to actor Emma King.
