Biography
Alex Somers is an American composer and musician. Born on 7 March 1984 in Baltimore, Maryland, he studied at Berklee College of Music and Listaháskóli Íslands. He previously ran a recording studio in Reykjavík and now lives in Los Angeles.
Somers is known for his film scores, including Captain Fantastic (2016), Honey Boy (2019), Miss Americana (2020), Fresh (2022) and Causeway (2022). He has frequently collaborated with Jónsi, releasing the album Riceboy Sleeps as Jónsi & Alex and contributing music to Black Mirror (2017 episode 'Hang the DJ'), Nickel Boys (2024, with Scott Alario) and Rental Family (2025, with Jónsi). He has also produced and mixed recordings for Sigur Rós and other artists.
