Biography

Alexis Chesnakov was a Russian-born actor and composer who worked primarily in British film and television. Born on 26 September 1894 in Russia, he appeared in numerous supporting roles, often portraying Russian or Eastern European authority figures.

His credited film work includes an uncredited appearance as Col. Brodsky the Russian Liaison Officer in The Third Man (1949), a passenger in A Night to Remember (1958), and Aristov in the television series The Saint (1962). He also composed music for television productions such as Uncle Vanya (1963). Chesnakov died on 9 January 1984 in London.
