In Margo's Got Money Troubles (2026), sex work has a place in a warm family comedy without becoming an invitation to leer. Seabright shares directing duties with Dearbhla Walsh and Kate Herron, and they give the actors room to make the family complications matter. We felt at ease with the programme because its treatment of sex work was so unembarrassed. Seabright's sympathetic handling of awkward material is a good reason to follow her.
Her move from shorts into major television work came with two episodes of the second series of Sex Education (2020). With Chloe (2022), she became the creator, writer, director and showrunner of a six-part drama about social media and identity. That was a substantial change in responsibility, from joining an existing programme to shaping one herself. An episode of Say Nothing (2024) and two of Amadeus (2025) then took her into directing historical drama.
On Margo's Got Money Troubles, the welcoming tone is a shared achievement. Tari Segal and Carl Herse's cinematography keeps the presentation lively, while Richard Bloom's production design supports that warmth. Nathan Micay's music helps the comedy stay buoyant, and the directors give the performers space rather than crowding them. Elle Fanning makes the programme worth following even when its heavier drama asks for too much attention. We should be careful about treating all of this as Seabright's doing, but the approach suits her interest in sympathetic character work.
The reservation is that the financial pressures sometimes feel less troubling than they should. Approachability helps the comedy, but a shortage of money needs to feel like more than another awkward family complication. Alice Seabright is a British director and writer. She created the psychological thriller miniseries Chloe (2022) for BBC and Amazon Prime Video, on which she also served as showrunner, writer and director of three episodes.
Seabright has directed episodes of the Netflix series Sex Education (2020) and the FX miniseries Say Nothing (2024). She directed two episodes of the Sky adaptation of Amadeus (2025) and two episodes of the Apple TV+ series Margo’s Got Money Troubles (2026).
