Biography
Alun Owen was a Welsh screenwriter, playwright and actor. Born in Menai Bridge, Wales, on 24 November 1925, he began his career in repertory theatre as an assistant stage manager in 1942 before becoming an actor. He started writing for radio and television in 1957.
Owen wrote more than fifty television plays and contributed screenplays to the feature films The Criminal (1960) and A Hard Day's Night (1964). The latter earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He continued writing for television into the 1980s, including work associated with strands such as Play for Today.
Owen died in London on 6 December 1994.
