Biography
Alvin Greenman (1930–2016) was an American actor, dialogue coach and script supervisor. Born in New York City, he began acting in community theatre and was spotted by a 20th Century Fox talent scout at the Henry Street Playhouse while still a teenager.
His earliest film role was the uncredited part of Alfred, a young Macy’s janitor, in Miracle on 34th Street (1947). He later appeared in the 1994 remake of the film as the doorman, also named Alfred, making him the only performer in both versions. Other acting credits include The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953) and The Frisco Kid (1979). Greenman worked extensively behind the camera as a dialogue coach and script supervisor on films such as The Longest Yard (1974) and The Karate Kid (1984), and on television series including Roots (1977) and Hill Street Blues.
