Biography
Amaka Okafor is a British actress. She was born Sally Amaka Okafor on 3 November 1981 in Birmingham. She studied theatre devising at Liverpool John Moores University and began her career in community theatre, later joining the Unicorn Theatre ensemble in London for two years.
Her stage work includes appearances at the National Theatre in Peter Pan (2016) and as Lady Macduff in Macbeth (2018). She made her West End debut as Sofia in The Son (2019) and has performed at the Royal Court Theatre and in other productions such as Nora: A Doll's House (2020).
On screen, Okafor is known for her roles as Shahara Hasan in the Netflix series Bodies (2023), DI Deborah Barnes in the BBC series The Responder (2022), and Roxie in the Netflix series Black Rabbit (2025). She has also appeared in Greatest Days (2023), Des (2020), Grace (2021) and The Split (2018).
