Biography

Amrou Al-Kadhi is a British-Iraqi writer, actor, drag performer and filmmaker. Born in London on 23 June 1990, they studied History of Art at the University of Cambridge. Al-Kadhi has worked professionally as an actor since the age of 13 and performs in drag as Glamrou.

As a writer, Al-Kadhi contributed the teleplay for the finale of the Apple TV+ anthology series Little America (2020) and wrote an episode of the BBC America series The Watch (2021). They have also written episodes of Hollyoaks. Their memoir Life as a Unicorn was published in 2019 and won the Somerset Maugham Award. Al-Kadhi wrote and directed the feature film Layla (2024), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Al-Kadhi has directed and written several short films, including Anemone (2018). Acting credits include Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), Carnival Row (2019), Christopher Robin (2018) and Back to Black (2024).
