Biography
Andra Day is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Born Cassandra Monique Batie on 30 December 1984 in Spokane, Washington, she released her debut album Cheers to the Fall in 2015. The album and its single "Rise Up" received Grammy Award nominations.
Day made her acting debut portraying Billie Holiday in the 2021 film The United States vs. Billie Holiday. The performance earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress; she also won a Grammy Award for the film's soundtrack. Her other screen credits include Marshall (2017), The Deliverance (2024) and the voice of Athena in Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023–). She plays Christine in the 2025 film Is This Thing On?.
