Biography
André Turpin is a Canadian cinematographer, film director and screenwriter. He graduated in film production from Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in 1989.
As a cinematographer he has worked frequently with directors Denis Villeneuve and Xavier Dolan. His credits include Maelström (2000), Incendies (2010), Tom at the Farm (2014), Mommy (2014) and It's Only the End of the World (2016). He has won two Genie Awards for Best Cinematography, for Maelström and Incendies.
Turpin has also directed and written several films, including Soft Shell Man (2001), which was Canada’s submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He is married to director Louise Archambault.
