Biography
Andrew Sachs was a German-born British actor. He is best known for playing the Spanish waiter Manuel in the BBC sitcom Fawlty Towers (1975–1979), a role for which he received a BAFTA nomination.
Sachs appeared in numerous television series and films over a career spanning more than five decades. His credits include roles in The Saint (1962), History of the World: Part I (1981), Nowhere in Africa (2001), Going Postal (2010), Quartet (2012) and Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016). He also played Ramsay Clegg in Coronation Street (2009).
Born Andreas Siegfried Sachs in Berlin, he worked extensively in television, film, radio and voice-over work.
