Biography
Ann Beach was a British actress whose career in theatre, television and film spanned more than five decades. Born in Wolverhampton, she won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at the age of 16 and made her professional debut in 1957.
She appeared in stage productions including work with Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop and the West End run of Billy Liar. On television she played Mrs Brent in an episode of Rising Damp (1974) and was best known for the role of Sonia Barrett in the sitcom Fresh Fields (1984–1986). Film credits include The City of the Dead (1960) and Notting Hill (1999).
Beach was married to television producer Francis Coleman from 1966 until his death in 2008; their daughters Charlotte Coleman and Lisa Coleman both became actresses.
