Biography
Anne Seymour (born Anne Seymour Eckert) was an American character actress who worked in film, television, stage and radio. She was born on 11 September 1909 in Manhattan, New York City, and died on 8 December 1988 in Los Angeles, California.
She came from a theatrical family; her mother was actress and museum curator May Davenport Seymour, and her great-uncle was actor Harry Davenport. Seymour trained at the American Laboratory Theatre School and began her career with the Jitney Players. She appeared in Broadway productions including At the Bottom (1930) and A School for Scandal (1931), and was active in radio, notably portraying the title role in The Story of Mary Marlin.
Her film debut was as Mrs. Lucy Stark in All the King's Men (1949). Other film roles include Amelia Tarbell in Pollyanna (1960) and a part in Field of Dreams (1989), released after her death. She made numerous television appearances, including episodes of Bewitched, Perry Mason, Family Ties and Remington Steele.
