Biography

Annie Girardot was a French actress. She made her film debut in Treize à table in 1955.

Girardot won the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti in 1956. She received the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival in 1965 for Trois chambres à Manhattan. In 1977 she won the César Award for Best Actress for Docteur Françoise Gailland, and in 2002 the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Piano Teacher. She was head of the jury at the 1992 Berlin International Film Festival.

She is known for her role as Nadia in Rocco and His Brothers (1960) and as Georges's mother in Caché (2005). Girardot was married to actor Renato Salvatori.
