Biography
Arielle Dombasle is a French-American actress, singer and director. Born Arielle Laure Maxime Sonnery on 27 April 1953 in Hartford, Connecticut, she studied at the Conservatoire International de Musique de Paris after spending much of her childhood in Mexico.
She appeared as herself in Chris Marker's Sans Soleil (1983). Her early film roles include Tess (1979) and Éric Rohmer's Pauline at the Beach (1983) and A Good Marriage (1982). Later credits encompass Little Indian, Big City (1994), Asterix and Obelix Take On Caesar (1999) and Vatel (2000). She has also directed films such as Chassé-croisé (1982) and Opium (2013).
Dombasle has released numerous albums and singles. She married writer Bernard-Henri Lévy in 1993.
