Biography

Arlene Martel (born Arline Greta Sax) was an American actress. Born on 14 April 1936 in the Bronx, New York, she attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York and made her Broadway debut in the 1956 comedy Uncle Willie. Early in her career she was often billed as Arline Sax or Arlene Sax.

Martel appeared in numerous television series from the late 1950s onwards. She is best known for playing T'Pring in the Star Trek episode 'Amok Time' (1967). Other credits include the recurring role of Tiger in Hogan's Heroes, appearances in The Twilight Zone (including 'Twenty-Two'), The Outer Limits episode 'Demon with a Glass Hand', I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched and Columbo.

She continued to work in television and film into the 2010s, including a role in the 2013 film A Walk to Remember and a Vulcan priestess in the fan film Star Trek: Of Gods and Men. Martel died on 12 August 2014 in Santa Monica, California.
