Biography
Armin Shimerman is an American actor born on 5 November 1949 in Lakewood, New Jersey. He is best known for playing the Ferengi bartender Quark in all seven seasons of the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1999). He had previously appeared as other Ferengi characters in episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Shimerman trained at UCLA and apprenticed at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego. His other notable television roles include Principal Snyder in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–1999) and Stan the Caddy in Seinfeld (1996). He has provided voices for video games including Dr Nefarious in the Ratchet & Clank series and Andrew Ryan in BioShock (2007). He co-authored the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novel The 34th Rule (1999) with David R. George III. Shimerman has been married to actress Kitty Swink since 1981.
