Biography
Arthur Hilton (also credited as Arthur D. Hilton) was a British-born film editor and director. Born in London on 5 April 1897, he edited his first film in 1928 before emigrating to the United States. He worked as an editor at Columbia, RKO and Universal studios.
His editing credits include The Bank Dick (1940), The Killers (1946), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, Secret Beyond the Door (1947) and House by the River (1950). He later moved into television, editing episodes of series including Mission: Impossible (1969–1970) and Hawaii Five-O (1970–1972).
Hilton also directed a number of films and television episodes, among them Cat-Women of the Moon (1953) and work on Lassie. He received further nominations from the American Cinema Editors and the Primetime Emmy Awards.
