Biography
Arthur Housman was an American actor who appeared in films from the silent era through the early 1940s. He began his career on stage and in vaudeville before working with the Edison studio in New York, where he appeared in comedies and experimental sound films.
Housman became known in the 1930s for his portrayals of comic drunks, often in cameo roles in feature films and with more substantial parts in shorts. His best-remembered performances include appearances in several Laurel and Hardy films such as Scram! (1932), Our Relations (1936) and The Live Ghost (1934), as well as a role in the Three Stooges short Punch Drunks (1934). He also had an early credited part as The Obtrusive Gentleman in Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927).
Housman died in Los Angeles in 1942.
