Biography
Arty Papageorgiou is a screenwriter. He co-wrote the screenplay for the animated film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (2024) with Phoebe Gittins.
Papageorgiou began his career as an actor, appearing in New Zealand television series including The Tribe (1999–2001) and Revelations: The Initial Journey (2002). He later wrote and directed the 2013 feature The Sorrows. He is also credited on the forthcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum (2027).
A Greek-Australian, Papageorgiou grew up in New Zealand near the Weta Workshop and has collaborated with childhood friend and writing partner Phoebe Gittins on projects connected to the Lord of the Rings franchise.
