Biography

Ayelet Waldman is an Israeli-American novelist, essayist and television writer. Born in Jerusalem in 1964, she studied at Wesleyan University and Harvard Law School, from which she graduated in 1991. She worked as a federal public defender before turning to writing.

Waldman is the author of the Mommy-Track Mystery series and novels including Love and Other Impossible Pursuits (2005) and Love and Treasure (2014). Her essay collection Bad Mother was a New York Times bestseller. With her husband, the novelist Michael Chabon, and Susannah Grant, she co-created the Netflix limited series Unbelievable (2019), for which she received writing and executive producer credits; the series earned a Peabody Award and Emmy nominations. She also contributed to Star Trek: Picard (2020).
