Biography

Barbara Bates (1925–1969) was an American actress. She made her film debut in Salome Where She Danced (1945) and appeared in supporting and bit roles in films including Johnny Belinda (1948), Adventures of Don Juan (1948), The Inspector General (1949), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950) and Quicksand (1950). She is best known for playing Phoebe in All About Eve (1950).

Bates also appeared in The Caddy (1953) and Belles on Their Toes (1952), and played Katy Morgan in the television series It's a Great Life (1954–1956). Her final screen credit was as Helen Ravenna in an episode of The Saint (1962). She was born and died in Denver, Colorado.
