Biography
Barry Gifford is an American author, poet and screenwriter. He was born on 18 October 1946 in Chicago, Illinois.
Gifford is best known for his series of novels about the characters Sailor and Lula. The first, Wild at Heart (1990), was adapted by David Lynch into the 1990 film of the same name. Gifford co-wrote the screenplay for Lynch’s Lost Highway (1997). He also wrote screenplays for Hotel Room (1993) and Perdita Durango (1997), and the screenplay for City of Ghosts (2002).
Gifford lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
