Biography
Barry Kemp is an American television producer, writer and director, and film producer. He wrote for the series Taxi (1978–1981), including teleplay credits, and created the sitcoms Newhart (1982–1990) and Coach (1989–1997).
Kemp graduated from the University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts in 1971. His film production credits include Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997), Patch Adams (1998) and Catch Me If You Can (2002). His work received Emmy nominations for writing on Taxi and for Newhart as Outstanding Comedy Series; he received the Valentine Davies Award from the Writers Guild of America, West in 1999.
