Biography
Barry Markowitz is a cinematographer. He was director of photography on Sling Blade (1996), directed by Billy Bob Thornton, and has worked on films including The Apostle (1997), All the Pretty Horses (2000), Crazy Heart (2009), Miss Meadows (2014), LBJ (2016) and Shock and Awe (2017).
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Markowitz earned a degree in Jewish history from Israel’s Hebrew University. He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) since 2005 and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). His work includes long collaborations with Thornton and Rob Reiner.
