Biography

Barry W. Blaustein was an American comedy writer and screenwriter. He wrote for Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1983, working with David Sheffield and contributing to sketches featuring Eddie Murphy.

With Sheffield, he wrote the screenplays for Coming to America (1988), Boomerang (1992), The Nutty Professor (1996) and Coming 2 America (2021). He also directed the documentary Beyond the Mat (1999) and taught screenwriting at Chapman University.

Blaustein was born on 10 September 1954 in Long Island, New York, and died on 12 May 2026 in Los Angeles.
