Biography
David Sheffield is an American screenwriter and television writer. Born in 1948 in Mississippi, he grew up in Biloxi and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1972.
He worked as a staff writer on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1983, where he collaborated with Barry W. Blaustein and contributed to sketches for Eddie Murphy. Their partnership continued in feature films, with screenplay credits including Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985), Coming to America (1988), Boomerang (1992), The Nutty Professor (1996), Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000), The Honeymooners (2005) and Coming 2 America (2021).
