Biography
Benoît Magimel is a French actor. Born in Paris on 11 May 1974, he began acting as a child, appearing at the age of 12 as Momo Groseille in Life Is a Long Quiet River (1988). He left school at 16 to pursue a career in film.
Magimel has worked with directors including André Téchiné, Michael Haneke and Emmanuelle Bercot. He won the Best Actor prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001 for his role in The Piano Teacher and received César Awards for Best Actor for Peaceful (2021) and Pacifiction (2022). Other credits include La Haine (1995), The Connection (2014) and The Taste of Things (2023), in which he played Dodin Bouffant.
He was in a relationship with actress Juliette Binoche from 1998 to 2003; they have a daughter, Hana, born in 1999. Magimel married screenwriter Margot Pelletier in 2018.
