Biography
Bert Lovitt was an American film editor. He worked on numerous feature films from the 1970s onwards, including New York, New York (1977), Italianamerican (1974), A Force of One (1979), The Beast Within (1982), Amazon Women on the Moon (1987), Great Balls of Fire! (1989), Days of Thunder (1990), Predator 2 (1990), Point Break (1991, additional editor), RoboCop 3 (1993) and Best of the Best II (1993). He also served in editorial and production roles on earlier projects such as Elvis on Tour (1972).
Lovitt taught film editing at the American Film Institute. He directed, wrote and executive-produced the independent film Prince Jack (1985). Later in his career he founded LandRoller, Inc. and obtained patents related to roller skates. He died in 2022.
