Biography
Bill Goodwin was an American actor and radio announcer. Born William Nettles Goodwin on 28 July 1910 in San Francisco, California, he began his career as a radio announcer, notably for The Burns and Allen Show on NBC and CBS from 1941 to 1950, before transitioning to film in the early 1940s.
He appeared in numerous films, including Wake Island (1942) as Sgt. Higbee and narrator, Spellbound (1945) as the house detective, House of Horrors (1946) as Police Lt. Larry Brooks, The Jolson Story (1946), The Stork Club (1945), Tea for Two (1950) and Jolson Sings Again (1949). He also worked in television and provided narration for the animated series Gerald McBoing-Boing.
Goodwin received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for radio in 1960. He died of a heart attack on 9 May 1958 in Palm Springs, California, aged 47.
