Biography
Bill Quinn was an American character actor of film and television. Born William Tyrell Quinn in New York City on 6 May 1912, he began his career as a child in vaudeville and silent films, later attending the Professional Children’s School. He appeared on Broadway and worked in radio, including with the Mercury Playhouse troupe, before moving into television and film.
Quinn appeared in more than 150 roles over seven decades. His film credits include The Birds (1963) and Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), in which he played Mr. Conroy. On television he made guest appearances in series such as Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Batman, Bonanza and The Munsters. His final film role was as McCoy’s father in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989).
Quinn was married to Mary Catherine Roden from 1939 until his death. He was the father-in-law of comedian Bob Newhart. He died on 29 April 1994 in Camarillo, California.
