Biography
Bill Stewart (1942–2006) was an English actor born in Liverpool. He appeared in British television and film for more than four decades and was best known for playing journalist Sandy Longford in the crime drama series A Touch of Frost (1992–1999).
His television credits include a recurring role as Metropolitan Police liaison officer Dingle in the BBC series Edge of Darkness (1985), as well as appearances in Z-Cars, MacGyver, Midsomer Murders and Casualty. Film roles include Made in Britain (1983), Black Beauty (1994), 101 Dalmatians (1996), Anna and the King (1999) and Copying Beethoven (2006).
Stewart also worked in theatre, performing in productions by Steven Berkoff and as Sir Toby Belch in a Globe Theatre staging of Twelfth Night. He died in London from motor neurone disease.
