Biography
Blanca Portillo is a Spanish actress, theatre director and producer. Born in Madrid on 15 June 1963, she trained at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático and began her career in theatre before making her feature film debut in Entre rojas (1995).
She gained wider recognition for her role as Carlota in the long-running television series 7 vidas and for her collaborations with Pedro Almodóvar, notably as Agustina in Volver (2006), for which she shared the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival. Other film roles include appearances in Goya's Ghosts (2006), Broken Embraces (2009) and Maixabel (2021), the last of which earned her the Goya Award for Best Actress.
