Biography
Brandon Hammond, also credited as Brandon La Ron Hammond, is an American former child actor. Born on 6 February 1984 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he began acting at the age of six in commercials and public service announcements. His first film role was as the five-year-old Caine in Menace II Society (1993).
Hammond appeared in several films during the 1990s, including Strange Days (1995), Waiting to Exhale (1995), Tales from the Hood (1995), Space Jam (1996) as the young Michael Jordan, Mars Attacks! (1996), The Fan (1996) and Soul Food (1997) as Ahmad. He won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Youth Actor for his performance in Soul Food.
On television he had recurring roles in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1996–1998) and The Gregory Hines Show (1997–1998), and appeared in episodes of series including The West Wing and Early Edition. His later credits include Blue Hill Avenue (2001) and Our America (2002).
