Biography
Brian Ackland-Snow (31 March 1940 – 30 March 2013) was an English production designer and art director. Born in London, he began working in film in the early 1960s as a draughtsman and assistant art director before progressing to art direction and production design roles.
He is known for his work on films including Death on the Nile (1978), The Dark Crystal (1982), A Room with a View (1985), Maurice (1987) and Without a Clue (1988). He shared an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for A Room with a View and won an Emmy Award for art direction on the miniseries Scarlett (1995). His later credits include Haunted (1995) and Animal Farm (1999).
His son, Andrew Ackland-Snow, also worked as an art director in films.
