Biography

Bruce A. Block is an American film producer, visual consultant and author. He has produced or co-produced several feature films, including Father of the Bride (1991), The Parent Trap (1998), What Women Want (2000), Something's Gotta Give (2003) and The Holiday (2006).

Block began his career directing commercials and corporate films, and later worked as a visual consultant on titles such as Stuart Little (1999) and Spanglish (2004). He is the author of The Visual Story, first published in 2001 with revised editions in 2007 and 2020. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and the USC School of Cinematic Arts, he is a tenured professor at USC, where he holds the Sergei Eisenstein Endowed Chair in Cinematic Design.
