Biography

Nancy Meyers is an American screenwriter, director and producer. Born on 8 December 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she studied journalism before moving to Los Angeles. She began her career as a story editor and co-wrote the screenplay for Private Benjamin (1980) with Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller, for which she received an Academy Award nomination.

Meyers collaborated frequently with Shyer, whom she later married, on films including Baby Boom (1987), Father of the Bride (1991) and Father of the Bride Part II (1995). She made her directorial debut with The Parent Trap (1998), which she also wrote. Subsequent credits as writer and director include What Women Want (2000), Something's Gotta Give (2003), The Holiday (2006), It's Complicated (2009) and The Intern (2015). She has also produced many of her projects.
