Biography

Bruce Allpress (1930–2020) was a New Zealand actor known for supporting roles in film and television. Born in Dunedin, he began performing in the 1960s in the vaudeville show the Cheeseman Singer Series and later appeared in television dramas including Hunter's Gold and the soap opera Close to Home.

His film credits include Mr Blake in Nate and Hayes (1983), Mr Ridley in The Shrimp on the Barbie (1990), the blind piano tuner in The Piano (1993), Aldor in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), and Jock McGowan in The Water Horse (2007). He also appeared in series such as Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Power Rangers Jungle Fury. Allpress received Feltex Awards for his work in the series Jocko and had a background in stage performance and theatre direction.
