Biography

Buck Taylor (born Walter Clarence Taylor III, 13 May 1938) is an American actor and artist. He is the son of character actor Dub Taylor and is best known for playing gunsmith-turned-deputy Newly O'Brien in 113 episodes of the CBS series Gunsmoke (1967–1975). He has also appeared in films including Tombstone (1993), Gettysburg (1993), The Mist (2007), Cowboys & Aliens (2011) and Hell or High Water (2016), and in the television series Yellowstone (2018–2022) as Emmett Walsh.

Taylor trained as a gymnast, attended North Hollywood High School and served in the United States Navy. He is an accomplished watercolour artist specialising in Western subjects and has created posters for several Texas rodeos. He was inducted into the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's Hall of Great Western Performers.

He has been married to Goldie Ann Taylor since 1995.
