Biography
Byron Eric Kennedy (18 August 1949 – 17 July 1983) was an Australian film producer and cinematographer. He met director George Miller at the University of Melbourne in 1969 and the pair collaborated on short films, including Violence in the Cinema, Part 1 (1971). They incorporated the production company Kennedy Miller in 1975.
Kennedy produced Mad Max (1979) and Mad Max 2 (1981), also released as The Road Warrior. The films, directed by Miller and starring Mel Gibson, were made on modest budgets and achieved substantial international box office returns. He also worked as associate producer on The Last of the Knucklemen (1979).
Kennedy died at the age of 33 when the helicopter he was piloting crashed into a lake near Sydney.
