Biography

Carla McClosky (also credited as Carla McCloskey) is an American assistant director, production manager and occasional director. Born on 5 April 1951 in the United States, she began her career in the film industry as one of the first women selected for the assistant director role by the Producers Association. She worked as second assistant director or first assistant director (including second-unit and aerial-unit duties) on feature films such as The 'Burbs (1989), Hook (1991), Point Break (1991), Jurassic Park (1993) and Point of No Return (1993).

McClosky spent many years in television, serving as first assistant director on series including Ally McBeal (1999–2000), Gilmore Girls (2000–2003) and The Closer (2006–2009), and as unit production manager on later seasons of Gilmore Girls. She directed one episode of Gilmore Girls. She has been married to actor Leigh McCloskey since 1978. She later introduced job-sharing arrangements to the Directors Guild of America and has written books on relationships and stroke recovery.
