Biography
Carol Sobieski was an American screenwriter. Born Carol O'Brien in Chicago, Illinois, she attended Smith College and received a master's degree in literature from Trinity College, Dublin. She began her career writing for television series in the mid-1960s.
Her film screenplays include Annie (1982), The Toy (1982), The Bourne Identity (1988) and Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), the last co-written with Fannie Flagg. She also wrote numerous television movies, including Sarah, Plain and Tall (1991). In 1978 she won the Humanitas Prize for the series Family and received Emmy Award nominations for her television work.
Sobieski died in Santa Monica, California, in 1990.
