Biography
Catherine Butterfield is an American playwright, screenwriter and actress. Born on 5 February 1958 in Manhattan, New York City, she was raised primarily in Minnesota and Massachusetts. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BFA in drama and began her career as a regional theatre actress before turning to playwriting.
Her breakthrough came with the 1992 Manhattan Theatre Club production of her play Joined at the Head, which she also starred in. Subsequent plays include Life in the Trees and The Sleeper. In television she has worked as a writer and producer on series including Party of Five (1996), Fame L.A., Ghost Whisperer and Grimm.
