Biography
Charles C. Wilson (also credited as Charles Wilson) was an American actor. Born in New York City on 29 July 1894, he began his career on stage with roles in six Broadway productions between 1918 and 1931. He appeared in more than 250 films from the late 1920s until his death on 7 January 1948 in Los Angeles County, California.
Wilson was frequently cast in small supporting roles as police officers, newspaper editors or officials. His most prominent part was as newspaper editor Joe Gordon in Frank Capra's It Happened One Night (1934). He also appeared in other Capra films, including Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) and It's a Wonderful Life (1946).
In 1928 he directed the comedy Lucky Boy, in which he also made his screen debut; it was his only film as director. He worked across multiple studios and appeared in Columbia serials and shorts.
