Biography
Charles D. Brown was an American stage and screen actor. He appeared in more than 100 films between 1921 and his death in 1948, and maintained a parallel Broadway career from 1911 to 1937. In 1914 he wrote and directed the short film The Bank Burglar's Fate.
Brown is known for roles including Wilkie in The Grapes of Wrath (1940), Max in Algiers (1938), Norris the Butler in The Big Sleep (1946), Packy Robinson in The Killers (1946), and an uncredited judge in Notorious (1946). He was often cast as officials, police inspectors, military officers and doctors.
