Biography
Charles Kimbrough was an American actor. He was born on 23 May 1936 in St Paul, Minnesota, and died on 11 January 2023 in Culver City, California.
Kimbrough had an extensive stage career, receiving a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the original 1970 Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company. He became widely known for playing the news anchor Jim Dial on the CBS sitcom Murphy Brown (1988–1998), a role he reprised in the 2018 revival; the performance earned him an Emmy Award nomination. He also voiced Victor the gargoyle in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) and its 2002 sequel. In 2002 he married actress Beth Howland.
